Estates and Facilities Management

We are a friendly and welcoming University based in West Sussex, with two beautiful campuses in the city of Chichester and on the coast at Bognor Regis. Our ambitious University Strategy ‘Open for Change’ sets out our vision to build on our 180-year history and to achieve international recognition for the excellence of our teaching, research and innovation. We aspire to develop attractive and environmentally sustainable campuses, creating an identity and providing a range of high-quality spaces for the use and enjoyment of the entire University community. We aim to optimise the functionality and utilisation of space across the estate to maintain our excellence in both our student and staff experience. Building on our Guardian Top 25 University ranking, we have ambitious plans for growth in student numbers and will continue to provide our students with safe, secure and affordable accommodation. We are extremely proud of the significant advances we have made in making the University a more sustainable place to study and work. Much progress has been made already, but there is plenty more still to do.

The University is at an extremely exciting part of its journey and has recently approved a new 5-year Estate Plan. We are now seeking a newly created post, Head of Capital Projects, who will become a senior member of the Estate team with overall responsibility for all capital projects and delivering its Long-Term Maintenance programme. Reporting directly to the Director of Estates and Facilities the role will assume overall responsibility for delivering all projects on time and to budget ensuring key projects meet and exceed their stated objectives.

You will be experienced in managing large capital budgets, and will have experience in managing contractors and internal and external stakeholders. You will be familiar with a variety of forms of contract and have experience of leading and motivating professional services teams. In return for your hard work & commitment, we will offer a competitive salary and an environment that challenges you and grows you as a professional. It is essential you have an extensive track record of delivery and are experienced in environment and sustainability matters, are an excellent communicator and have strong interpersonal skills with a flexible, helpful and pragmatic approach.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Mr Andrew May via email at andrew.may@chi.ac.uk. For full details of the post, please visit our website above.

The University of Chichester embraces all forms of diversity and aspires to be a fully inclusive and representative employer and so we encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people.

Closing Date: Wednesday 12 January 2022 (midnight) Interview Date: Wednesday 19 January 2022

The postholder will be remunerated appropriately for the level of the post with excellent additional benefits. The University offers 25/27 days annual leave including bank holidays plus an additional 4/5 days off during the Christmas closure period. This is an excellent career opportunity to develop within an Estate and Facilities Management team operating within a large, busy, corporate, educational setting.
