Research Fellow in Exercise Physiology (Maternity Cover)
We are looking for a Research Fellow in Exercise Physiology to join our team of researchers for a fixed term until February 2019. The purpose of this role is to support the Team Leaders in delivering commercially funded projects which aim to enhance physical performance and/or reduce musculoskeletal injuries in physically demanding occupations.
The research team are currently delivering projects for the UK Armed Forces, emergency services and private sector. The post holder will be required to assist with the co-ordination of applied research, provide support to field studies (incl. leading a small team), perform data analysis, and undertake administrative tasks to support literature reviews and commercial activities.
You are not required to have experience in working with personnel in physically demanding occupations (although this would be advantageous). We are seeking applicants who have a good working knowledge of the organisation and structure of the UK Armed Forces and/or Emergency Services and a background in Sports and Exercise Physiology. You should have a wide range of experience undertaking applied physiological data collection techniques and collection of data collection in field settings is essential. Skills in research methods and statistical analysis including SPSS are also essential.
The post holder will have demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate at all levels and must be able to show initiative, working both independently and as part of a team to achieve the overall aims of the project. Ideally the successful candidate would be able to commence in role during September or October 2018.
There will be some travel and overnight stays required (including overseas). Given the nature of the work you will be required to undergo National Security Vetting to achieve a minimum of Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance in order to continue working on the project, and if required by the MOD achieve Security Cleared (SC) status.
