Senior Social Work Practitioner
Based in Horsham Area
Full-time, Temporary (One Year Contract)
£34538-£37306

Interview date: 14th November 2017

Mid-Sussex South Community Social Work Team is seeking a Senior Social Work Practitioner to come and work with us on a full time basis for a 1 year contract.

Here at West Sussex County Council we have a clear vision for our county which sets out what we want to achieve with our residents. We want to ensure residents, families and communities have the right support in place to enable them to confidently prepare for later life so they can live independently for as long as possible and remain economically active for longer. We are investing in our Adults’ Social Care Services to support our priorities and in keeping with the responsibilities under the Care Act. To help us develop and grow our service, we are looking to recruit a motivated and experienced individual to this Senior Social Work Practitioner role.

You will be working as part of a busy Community Team, providing services to Adults residing in the Northern Operations area of West Sussex. We work positively and closely with colleagues from within the organisation and also from Health, District and Borough Councils as well as Provider services. It is essential that you have good communication skills to be able to nurture and build excellent working relationships with partners, customers, their families and carers. You need to be registered with the HCPC and will need to travel independently across the county to meet with individuals and attend meetings.

A key part of your role will be to support and deputise for the Team Manager in terms of day to day management of the team and also in terms of developing the team and moving into the future. You will need to be able to work autonomously and flexibly to get the job done and need to be already working at Senior Social Work level or higher so you can bring these skills and experience of complex case work to this role. A good working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 while working within budgetary constraints is essential and the role will involve assessing needs and risks; working with adult safeguarding, working within relevant organisational, policy and legislative requirements while maintaining a person-centred, strength based approach.

Ideally, you will have undertaken practice educator training but this is not essential although you will need a willingness to engage in this training as you will have supervision and training responsibilities for team staff and through this be able to have a direct impact on staff development.
If you think you have the right values for our organisation, you will be supported by a programme of continuous training and development including supervision and management support to help you fulfil the role. We also offer an attractive benefits package including a childcare voucher scheme, flexible working and Local Government Pension Scheme.

If you have any questions about this role, please contact Viv Killner (Team Manager)
