Head of Communications- £46,000- £57,000- Dorset

Reporting to Deputy Director of Engagement and Development

A new and exciting high profile Head of Communications role has become available for a large client in Dorset. The organisation is seeking an experienced, passionate and energetic candidate to join their team at a vital time. The company has recently embarked on a review of all clinical services across Dorset and as a consequence are now attracting national interest. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence and lead public consultation activities. This is your chance to step into a career defining position at the heart of one of the most ambitious reviews of health care provision seen in the modern NHS.

Your main purpose in this role is to provide leadership and expertise in media relations, reputation management and deliver targeted communications to the core internal and external audiences, including staff, members, key stakeholders and members of the public. You will have strategic oversight of all communications during periods of active engagement and formal public consultation and develop and present innovative ideas for the development and management of the corporate communications function.

This role will suit someone who has experience of leading or actively contributing to complex large scale public consultations with experience of developing strong media relationships, and an ability to pro actively manage media messages. You will need experience of providing crisis management and specialist communications advice, guidance and support across an organisation. As a person you will need high level presentation and writing skills, and excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills as well as the ability to be highly resilient.

You will be line managing a team of around 8 and working closely with the wider directorate across the organisation.

Working hours are Monday- Friday 9am- 5pm.
